I'd like to restore my P2120 to its original state, as I recieved it. What's the easiest way to do this?

Use the DISE software included on the P. Make sure the factory image is on the D partition. Create the DISE boot floppies. Reboot to floppies and restore. It'll erase all data on C, of course. |

What if you don't have a floppy drive which I don't have. |

Do not alter this partition any, ie change name or FAT32. As a safety measure I suggest you make a copy of the DISE folder on C: & add it to your D partition. If your DISE restore disks fail, boot with any W98/ME system disk, then head over to that folder on D: & execute PQDI.exe. In catspell's case he would have to use a bootable CD. This works also. |

It works fine to restore your current backup image, but using the DISE boot disks does not allow me the option to restore from factory image. This happened to me years ago when my P2040 would not boot into XP because of a SW problem, so I called Fujitsu support(anyone ever use them) & they set me straight.
Basically they said the factory restore option only shows up in DISE program when you execute PQDI.exe on your HDD. I grabbed a W98 boot disk & they were right, it showed up then...I restored my factory image(my current backup image was corrupt).
I don't know what happened, but you most certainly can restore the factory image from the DISE-created boot floppies. I guess I didn't catch your previous assessment on this since I just skimmed. There might be a pull-down menu option for the factory image from the DISE boot disks, but I don't remember. |

Yes, there is definitely a pull-down menu where there "Restore Factory" option is hiding. I was confused about it myself and thought the option was defunct until I just stumbled upon it accidentally. Since then it ever worked just fine, both from HDD, floppy and bootable CD.

Madana - Thanx for that info! It's been a while since I used DISE. |
